This role sits at the intersection of governance, risk management, and emerging AI and data technologies, supporting enterprise-wide efforts to strengthen control frameworks and ensure responsible innovation. You will act as a trusted advisor across first- and second-line teams, helping shape how data governance, AI governance, and risk practices are applied across the organization. The position involves providing independent oversight, challenge, and advisory input on risk assessments, control design, and regulatory alignment. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across business and technology teams in a fast-evolving environment where data and AI are central to decision-making. In this role, you will provide independent advisory support across governance, risk, and control activities related to data and AI, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. You will contribute to strengthening risk frameworks while enabling responsible innovation across the organization.
- Provide advisory oversight on governance, risk, and control activities across Data Governance and AI initiatives
- Support risk assessment activities including PSPRA, RCRA, and process risk/control evaluations
- Review and assess governance artifacts, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement
- Maintain and enhance Process Risk and Control (PRC) libraries and support Key Risk Indicator (KRI) development
- Advise stakeholders on governance frameworks, regulatory expectations, and control design considerations
- Facilitate governance discussions, forums, and working sessions to support consistent risk understanding
- Prepare advisory reporting and governance insights for leadership decision-making
- Collaborate with first- and second-line risk and compliance teams to ensure alignment and oversight
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in governance, risk, compliance, or audit functions, with a specialized focus on data and AI governance. You are analytical, detail-oriented, and confident in advising stakeholders across complex environments while maintaining independence and objectivity.
- 5–7 years of experience in GRC, data governance, AI governance, risk management, audit, or related fields
- Strong understanding of data privacy, model risk, data quality, and AI governance principles
- Experience supporting risk assessments such as PSPRA, RCRA, and control evaluations
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and enterprise risk management practices
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess governance alignment and risk impact
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence across teams
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate risks appropriately
- Relevant certifications such as CDMP, CRISC, CGRC preferred; AI governance certifications considered an asset
