Position Summary
NE-XT is seeking a Product Quality Engineer (PQE) to support aerospace manufacturing quality initiatives through inspection planning, nonconformance management, corrective action leadership, supplier quality coordination, and continuous improvement. This role partners closely with engineering, operations, and quality leadership to reduce defects, improve process capability, and ensure customer compliance.
Compensation
$85,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, update, and maintain inspection plans aligned with drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and customer flowdowns.
• Support contract review by identifying quality requirements, documentation needs, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements including ASQR-01, AS13100, and related aerospace standards.
• Serve as a Designated Quality Representative (DQR) for multiple customers.
• Review and approve certifications, test reports, and quality documentation packages.
• Support incoming inspection documentation review as a Certified Laboratory Control Sample Certification Reviewer (CLCSR) when required.
• Own Material Review Board (MRB) activities and ensure timely disposition of nonconforming material.
• Partner with Engineering and Quality leadership to determine rework, repair, or scrap disposition decisions.
• Lead and participate in 8D investigations and corrective action activities.
• Analyze quality data, defect trends, and process performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Support supplier quality initiatives and corrective action follow-up activities.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce defects and improve product quality.
Performance Metrics
• On-time MRB disposition rate
• Accuracy and completeness of inspection plans
• DQR acceptance accuracy and customer feedback
• Supplier defect closure and recurrence rates
• Corrective action effectiveness
• Scrap reduction and quality trend improvement
• Timeliness and quality of 8D investigations
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in aerospace or regulated manufacturing quality
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and certifications
• Experience with MRB, nonconformance management, and root cause analysis
• Strong understanding of inspection methods, measurement tools, and documentation requirements
• Experience with contract review and customer flowdowns
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
• AS9100 experience
• DQR certification
• Experience with AS13100 and ASQR-01 requirements
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to stand, walk, and use measurement equipment for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
