Job Summary
The Construction Engineering Intern will gain exposure toactivities related to project execution from the initiation / definition phasethrough final commissioning and closeout. Below is list of activities /deliverables the CE Intern may support and/or participate in the completion.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate as a member of project teams todevelop project scope, project cost estimate, project schedule
• Assist others in developing schedule includingcritical paths
• Participate in the development of detailedconstruction plans and identify outage requirements to implement newfacilities, Identify required permits, & Develop detailed estimates
• Participate in the development of constructioncontract bid packages; review responses and participate in vendor selection
• Participate in design constructability reviewsfor all disciplines (site, foundation, electrical & relay, T-Line) toidentify and eliminate costly expenses during the construction phase
• Participate in the development detailedconstruction plan, which includes a list of outages, exact work dates, andconstruction resource requirements
• Identifies and addresses all project safetyhazards and environmental concerns.
• Participate in or support monitoring and routinereporting on project construction schedule and cost
• Participate in quality assurance checks duringconstruction
• Monitor schedule and progress versus requestedin service date
• Participate on site field / scope visits
• Support the closeout of construction contractsand as-built documentation
• Gain exposure to Utility Company procedures andprocesses are followed to comply with all regulatory requirements
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Authorization to work in the United Stateswithout sponsorship now or in the future;
• HS Diploma or the Equivalent required;
• Enrollment in a four (4) year baccalaureateprogram for Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university;
• Accepting expected graduation dates in May of2028;
• Candidate must provide a resume as well as thecollege or university transcripts.
Working Conditions:
• Work is conducted in an office environment(Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-sitework locations
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant orconstruction atmosphere
• Interaction with other team members, as well assupervisors and client personnel
• Working plant, construction, and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation,which permits employee to communicate effectively
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of timewith or without reasonable accommodation
• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employeeto conduct analysis and investigations
• Sufficient manual dexterity with or withoutreasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine officeduties
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office dutiesand travel when necessary to off-site locations
