As part of Plimpton & Hills Corporation, the showroom plays an important role in supporting both retail and contractor business by combining product expertise with exceptional customer service.

Position Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to support showroom sales operations by assisting Showroom Consultants with daily showroom functions. This role helps contribute to sales growth, market share, profitability, and customer satisfaction by providing excellent customer service, product support, and administrative assistance to ensure a positive showroom experience for all customers. This is a full-time position based at our Fairfield, CT Showroom located at 146 Kings Highway East, Fairfield CT.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome customers as they enter the showroom and direct them to the appropriate party
  • Promptly and professionally answer showroom directed calls
  • Communicate effectively in person as well as email, phone, etc.
  • Keep track of each customer in Excel log
  • Manage rotation of customers for each salesperson
  • Schedule appointments
  • Guide customers around the showroom
  • Point out different product lines and products in the showroom
  • Ask questions and respond appropriately to determine the customers’ showroom needs
  • Provide exceptional customer service on a daily ongoing basis
  • Encourage customers to utilize our website, keep in contact with them for future projects.
  • Order, manage, and put away all manufacture literature
  • Possess people skills and the ability to use mathematical functions/pricing
  • Additional duties as requested
  • Assist Showroom Consultants by:
  • Print spec books and job pictures and ensure consultants have all other information they may need
  • Call customers to let them know their order has arrived
  • Check on status of current orders
  • Alert customers to any changes or problems with their current order
  • Follow up with customer that has had a consultation
  • Coordinate installation and other activities with builders
  • Order new showroom products with management approval
  • Help with job quotes when needed but on a limited basis
  • Release products and check stock for showroom customers
  • Maintaining showroom by:
  • Keep work stations neat and welcoming in appearance
  • Arrange showroom décor and make changes in product display
  • Clean and dust showroom fixtures if needed
  • Keep product materials and brochures stocked and ready for customers
  • Make necessary changes and updates to price books
  • Review new product knowledge reference material
  • Meet with product representatives for training sessions

Requirements:

Experience, Education & Skills:

  • Receptionist experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; verbally and written
  • High School diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
