About the Role:

The MA and FD role is a dual-function position combining the responsibilities of a Medical Assistant (MA) and a Front Desk (FD) Coordinator within a healthcare setting. The primary objective is to ensure seamless patient care by efficiently managing clinical tasks alongside administrative duties. This role requires balancing patient interaction, clinical support, and front office management to enhance the overall patient experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in coordinating patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. Ultimately, this position contributes to the smooth operation of the healthcare facility by integrating clinical assistance with front desk operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent credential.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage both clinical and administrative duties efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting with combined clinical and front desk responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes.
  • Additional certification in customer service or office administration.
  • Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients, verifying insurance and personal information at the front desk.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering basic medical procedures.
  • Maintain and update patient medical records accurately and confidentially.
  • Manage phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and coordinate communication between patients and medical staff.
  • Ensure the front desk area is organized and that all administrative supplies are stocked.
  • Support billing and coding processes by collecting co-pays and assisting with insurance documentation.
  • Adhere to healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions.
