EPS SUPERVISOR

  • JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
    • Job Summary:
      • Provides leadership and oversight of the department and to the staff providing emergency psychiatric services. This includes maintaining appropriate staffing levels, managing time and attendance, staff coaching and development, policy and procedure creation, and input & adherence to department budgetary matters. Serves as part of the core team in assessing emergency psychiatric patients and works closely with providers and intra- and inter-departmental nursing staff to ascertain appropriate course of action. Position requires on-call work when necessary to answer questions and concerns and to cover staffing shortfalls. Assists in evaluating appropriate patients on various medical units when requested.
    • Education:
      • Position requires graduation from an accredited Master's Degree Program in a mental health discipline (i.e., social work, counseling, psychology). If an R.N., graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing is required.
    • Registration/Certification/Licensure:
      • Positions requires LCSW or LCPC with willingness to obtain the State of Maryland certificate in supervision.
    • Experience:
      • Position requires a minimum of 2 years postgraduate clinical experience.
    • Other Requirements:
      • Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
      • Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
      • Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
      • Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
      • Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with clients, staff, and advocates and in promoting a positive service atmosphere.
      • Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment producing quality work.
      • Participates in Bereavement Skills Training Program and attends updates annually.
      • Effectively able to professionally deal with issues concerning death and dying.
      • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays to assist in achieving 24/7 on-call coverage if needed.
