This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal guidance and support across vendor, sales, and partnership agreements in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. As Counsel, Commercial, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams, advising on contracts and commercial matters while helping streamline and improve contracting processes. You will have direct visibility with senior leadership and collaborate across business, finance, product, and compliance teams to ensure agreements are effective, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. The position blends practical legal work with strategic influence, enabling you to make a meaningful impact across multiple areas of the business. - Provide legal guidance on vendor, sales, and partnership agreements to support business objectives
- Partner with cross-functional teams including sales, product, operations, and finance to ensure contracts align with business and regulatory requirements
- Support process improvements, development of templates, and playbooks to drive efficiency and scale within the commercial legal function
- Collaborate with internal and external counsel on complex legal matters, providing practical and risk-balanced advice
- Advise on compliance, regulatory requirements, and best practices relevant to contracts and vendor management
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, fostering trust and enabling smooth contract execution
- Support business expansion initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the commercial legal team
Requirements:
- JD degree and member in good standing of a State Bar
- 3–6 years of experience in commercial contracts, ideally with experience both in a law firm and in-house
- Industry experience in FinTech, payments, financial services, banking, or software technology
- Working knowledge of U.S. regulatory requirements in payments and issuing
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively
- Experience managing multiple priorities and driving complex projects to completion under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in using AI tools to enhance efficiency and support legal workflows
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
