FPI (Fluorescent Penetrant) Quality Inspector | 2nd Shift
$21-$25/hr, Plus 15% Shift Differential
Hi-Tek Manufacturing is searching for experienced Non Destructive Testing [ NDT ] Quality Inspector / Level II or Level III Fluorescent Penetrant [ FPI ] who wishes to continuing developing his or her career as a non-destructive testing fluorescent Penetrant Inspector through advanced manufacturing technology by executing a higher level of workmanship. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Non-Destructive Testing NDT Quality Inspector with a focus on Fluorescent Penetrant Level II or Level III inspections is responsible for conducting inspections on various components and materials to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. The NDT – FPI inspector will Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications while documenting and communicating inspection findings both verbally and in writing preparing detailed reports.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
• Analyze and interpret Op sheets, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and travelers to produce products that meet or exceed customer specifications
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to customer specifications, using precision measuring tools and equipment as necessary such as borescopes, rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
• Perform, and Document scheduled FPI test log and reports
• Maintain, Test, and Replenish dipping solutions
• Clean parts using chemical degreaser and parts wash machine
• Prep parts using specialized material
• Inspect parts using ultraviolet light
• Load/unload parts, inspect parts using various precision measuring tools
• Report proper labor hours in the ERP system
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping duties
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Follow all Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including the use of proper PPE
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.
• Effective communication and people skills to maintain a working relationship with Quality and Engineering
• Dependability, integrity, cooperation and taking the initiative for responsibilities and challenges are critical
• Ability to operate autonomously and self-direct
• Good and reliable attendance and a collaborative mindset are necessary
• Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values
Physical Conditions:
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 vision (corrected) required with ability to pass annual vision test as required
• Lift, push and/or pull up to thirty-five pounds (35lbs.) regularly
• Operate overhead crane when necessary
• Stand at least 75% of scheduled shift
• Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materials
• Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation Qualifications, Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must have at a minimum Level I FPI certificate with the ability to obtain Level II FPI certification by showing current employer training log hours
• Coordinate Measuring Machine [ CMM ] experience preferred
• Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry preferred
• Experience with Repair and Overhaul FPI Inspection
• Experience with other NDT fields e.g., X-Ray
• Troubleshooting / critical thinking skills
• Must meet the ITAR definition of §120.15 U.S. personKey Competencies:
• Reliable attendance within acceptable standards of the attendance policy
• Integrity and conscientiousness in all work-related matters
• Must effectively communicate information to others, both verbally and in writing, in English
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• The ability to work efficiently with others or independently as required
• Safety-Conscious Always
Shift: 2nd Shift: Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am **Overtime may be required as needed**
