About This Position
Little Huskies Child Development Center, located on the campus of Michigan Tech University, is now accepting applications for a substitute teacher. Regular work hours are 11-5:15, Monday through Friday (31.25 hours/week).

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Substitutes to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children in the absence of regular staff. This role is essential in ensuring continuity of care and support for children’s development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage with children in a variety of activities, including play, arts and crafts, and educational games.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for children at all times.
- Follow lesson plans and daily schedules as directed by regular staff.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to ensure a positive experience.
- Assist with meal and snack times, ensuring proper nutrition and hygiene practices.
- Observe and report any behavioral or developmental concerns to the appropriate staff members.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in childcare or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Basic knowledge of child development principles.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Requirements:- A CDA, associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred, but not necessary
- Adheres to attendance and dress code policies as outlined in the Staff Handbook
- Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and parents
- Knowledge of children’s physical, emotional and developmental patterns
- Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate guidance
- Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
- Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
