About This Position
The Carter Burden Network is seeking a warm, organized, and community‑minded Activities Coordinator to help create a vibrant, inclusive environment for older adults at our Leonard Covello Older Adult Program. This role supports the Director of Activities in planning and delivering workshops, celebrations, trips, and daily programming that reflect the interests and cultural diversity of our participants.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven setting and brings both creativity and structure to their work. You’ll manage multiple activities at once, build simple systems that keep the program running smoothly, and maintain accurate, audit‑ready documentation for NYC Aging. Just as importantly, you’ll greet participants with patience, compassion, and a hospitality‑forward approach—ensuring every older adult feels welcomed and supported.
Key responsibilities include coordinating events and classes, preparing materials and rooms, taking attendance, supporting volunteer‑led activities, conducting outreach, and representing CBN at community events. You’ll also maintain calendars (Outlook) and records in Vive and other systems, submit monthly and quarterly statistics, and collaborate closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys engaging with older adults, communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and can juggle many moving parts with professionalism and heart.
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of relevant experience; AA or higher preferred
- Bilingual Spanish required
- Experience with older adults, event coordination, or community engagement
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer‑service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva (or similar), and VIVE or comparable databases
- Comfort moving throughout a multi‑floor building and lifting up to 20lbs
If you want a role where your creativity, reliability, and compassion directly shape the daily experience of older adults, we’d love to meet you.
