We're seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Quality Control Technician to join our fast-paced team in Indianapolis. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality before reaching our customers.

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for executing the operating procedures of the quality management systems (QMS) to consistently ensure quality products are manufactured within established quality standards. Works closely with the Senior Quality Manager, Research & Development, and the President & Chief Operating Officer to ensure quality compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Assist with maintaining the Quality Control programs, policies, and procedures to ensure ISO 22716 cGMP compliance of cosmetic products.
  • Partner with Fill Line Manager, Production Manager, Maintenance staff, and other departments as needed relating to quality control concerns and issues. Follow quality control guidelines and procedures to ensure that chemicals, components and finished goods comply with product specifications including collection and inspection of samples. Follow corrective actions to address non-conformances identified by audits and root cause analysis.Conduct daily scale and balance checks at the start of production.Verify staging of components and inspects bulk products prior to start of production.Confirms bulk containing color, matches color standard prior to releasing bulk for use.Performs quality checks of equipment in all production areas to verify cleanliness before releasing to production.Verify that the first assembled product presented for each work order meets the quality specifications and sign as approved and upload required data/images to initiate assembly production.Verify that the first filled product presented for each batch code meets the quality specifications and signs as approved and upload required data/images to initiate fill production.Perform hourly in-process checks of products to ensure they meet specifications and records data on the Quality Check form in the Manufacturing Record.Complete nonconformance report on rejected product, communicates the findings to Quality Manager and assists with investigations as needed.Inspect QC Investigation area as needed, partnering with other departments in this shared responsibility. Inspect and approve or reject components and/or products based on quality specifications.Place non-conforming materials and products on Quality hold. Ensure all products and processes comply with written specifications.Identify non-conformances for product and processes and collect samples of non-conforming items as needed.Relay safety concerns and GMP violations to Senior Quality Manager for escalation and to alert other departments. Assist Senior Quality Manager with creation and revision of Specification Sheets and other Controlled Documents as needed.Check room and equipment cleaning and usage logs as needed. Serve as backup to Quality Microbiology Laboratory Manager on specific tasks not managed by Senior Quality Manager, as needed.Report to Senior Quality Manager on all quality standard issues.Participate in the Operations huddle.Participate in goal setting and performance evaluation with supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Thorough understanding of GMP policies and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure with fluctuating workload.
  • Creative thinking and self-motivation.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, walk, stand, lift, push and pull various items.
  • Ability to move around the warehouse, including walking up and down stairs.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily performed inside the warehouse.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles.
  • May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions.
  • Working hours may fluctuate based upon business need.
