Job Summary

The Assistant Golf Course Maintenance Mechanic manages and maintains all golf maintenance equipment. This includes a record-keeping of all preventative maintenance, inventory of parts, ordering of parts, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role dictates the order of which equipment is maintained unless the Green Superintendent states otherwise.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and repairs all mowers and equipment required to maintain the golf course.
  • Manages the equipment repair facility and maintains a safe, clean, organized, efficient working environment.
  • Determines replacement part/equipment requirements, completes requisitions, orders materials, and makes budget and equipment recommendations.
  • Inspects daily vehicle/equipment reports and services/repairs as required.
  • Maintains inventory of non-stockroom parts and supplies.
  • Coordinates and inspects all major repair work, i.e. transmission rebuilding, carburetor repair, with outside vendors.
  • Completes light-duty metalworking and welding repairs and construction projects.
  • Prepares written repair logs of completed routine work to include but not limited to oil changes, filter changes, general lubrication, and general equipment checklist in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Performs the sharpening of reel mowers and rotary mowers blades and bed knives.
  • Reports all safety hazards. Repairs if possible. Instructs vehicle/equipment operators in proper and safe operation techniques.
  • Performs all duties safely and professionally and in accordance with established The Country Club of Mobile and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Regular and prompt attendance and adherence to the employee policy manual.
  • Preservers and maintains the tangible and intangible assets of the club.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Golf Superintendent or Assistant Golf Superintendent to assist the department in providing the best possible playing conditions.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Participation in continuing education, training seminars, and safety training.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license to operate golf cart.
  • Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in welding or metalworking.
  • Mechanical or trade school certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in all aspects of 2-Cycle and 4-Cycle engine repair, diesel engine repair, and all aspects of maintenance for vehicles and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. frequently each day and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs. frequently.
  • This position requires long periods of time standing; frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching.
