About This Position
Full Time 3-12 hr shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am, variable days of the week.
The Emergency Department Technician under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse carries out all assignments in the provision of patient care, as delegated by the registered nurse. All duties are carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides direct patient care, as directed by RN
2. Assists RN in completing therapeutic treatments and communicates patient’s response to treatment.
3. Surveys for significant findings regarding patient safety, personal needs and changes in patient’s condition.
4. Promotes and maintains an atmosphere for patient comfort. Keeps patient’s room clean and orderly.
5. Identifies patient/family education needs and reports them to the RN.
6. Transports patients to and from the Emergency Department utilizing wheelchair or stretcher.
7. Stable patients requiring telemetry monitoring will be placed on remote telemetry for transport.
8. Assists in stocking unit, maintaining equipment and ordering supplies..
9. Assists in cleaning and preparing rooms after a patient has been dis-positioned and removing used supplies.
10. Participates in Emergency Preparedness requirements and responses. Maintains Haz-Mat competency.
11. Answers all phone calls promptly, courteously and efficiently in accordance with policy.

Education and/or Experience
- Must have HS degree or G.E.D.
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Strongly prefer EMT-B
- Prefer one year of work experience in a fast paced healthcare environment
- Phlebotomy skills strongly preferred
- Must be a team player, excellent customer satisfaction skills, energetic and able to multi-task
- Good interpersonal skills
