In this senior creative leadership role, you will define and elevate the visual standard of character art across a high-quality game production. You will combine hands-on character creation with strategic artistic direction, ensuring consistency, performance, and visual excellence. Acting as a key bridge between art, design, narrative, and technical teams, you will help shape cohesive character experiences that support gameplay and storytelling. You will also contribute to refining pipelines and workflows to improve scalability and efficiency. Alongside production delivery, you will mentor artists and foster a collaborative, high-performance creative environment. This is a fully remote UK-based role offering the opportunity to influence both artistic vision and team development at a studio level.
- Define, maintain, and champion high-quality standards for character art across the project, ensuring visual consistency and excellence.
- Contribute to and help guide the overall character art direction in alignment with creative leadership and project vision.
- Lead the development and optimisation of character pipelines, workflows, and production best practices to support scalability and efficiency.
- Provide hands-on support in character creation where needed, including modelling, texturing, and material work.
- Review character assets and deliver clear, constructive feedback to maintain quality and coherence across the team.
- Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams including concept, animation, design, narrative, tech, and production to ensure alignment.
- Support production planning by estimating tasks, tracking progress, and helping ensure milestones are met.
- Oversee and support outsourcing pipelines, including feedback, integration, and quality assurance of external work.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in the games industry in a character art role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality character art, including modelling, texturing, and material creation.
- Proven experience contributing to or leading character art direction and delivery on game projects.
- Strong understanding of real-time character production pipelines and optimisation for performance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with confidence working across multiple disciplines.
- Experience working with external partners or outsourcing teams, including review and feedback processes.
- Ability to design and support efficient, scalable production workflows.
- Passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and supporting the growth of other artists.
