In this role, you will serve as a key operational support professional ensuring accurate patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification within a fast-paced healthcare contact center environment. You will interact daily with patients, providers, and internal teams, helping maintain smooth access to care through efficient scheduling and clear communication. The position requires strong attention to detail, as you will manage sensitive demographic and insurance data while supporting billing accuracy and care coordination. You will also contribute to optimizing appointment utilization by filling cancellations and managing scheduling workflows. Working in a collaborative yet independent environment, you will help ensure patients receive timely access to services while meeting performance and quality standards. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will support patient access operations by ensuring accurate scheduling, registration, and communication across multiple service lines:

  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy for billing and administrative processes.
  • Schedule medical office visits and hospital procedures while managing cancellations and optimizing provider calendars.
  • Handle incoming patient inquiries and route calls or requests to appropriate departments when needed.
  • Complete referrals and manage designated workqueues for assigned specialties.
  • Register new patients by accurately entering required demographic and insurance data into systems.
  • Support insurance verification and authorization processes to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain compliance with confidentiality requirements while handling sensitive patient data.
  • Build strong relationships with patients, staff, and external stakeholders in a virtual or call center environment.
Requirements

This position requires strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, along with familiarity in healthcare administrative processes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a medical office, healthcare call center, or customer service environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling processes, insurance verification, and medical terminology (for designated specialties).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across all levels.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team setting.
  • Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive patient information with discretion.
