| Job Summary | The College of Medicine, Department of Endocrinology is hiring for a Laboratory Technician working within Dr. Mishra’s lab working on research grants. Overweight and Obesity is an epidemic affecting over half of the US population and is particularly high in the state of Kentucky. The Mishra Lab uses preclinical models to identify genes and pathways that influence the development of the disease states driven by obesity, including type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The candidate will employ a variety of analytical methods to assess physiological measures of various diseases states as well as changes in gene expression, protein expression, tissue histology, and cellular morphology. Experience in animal husbandry, cell culture, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, and microscopy are desired. Precision, attention to detail, teamwork and initiative are essential. Analyzing experimental data, writing and presenting methods, technical reports, and research data essential for grant applications and publications are required. |
