Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop, and maintain a fully staffed, highly trained Delivery team that consistently meets operational performance metrics, adheres to all regulatory requirements, and delivers exceptional customer service.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly oversight of delivery operations. Lead regular leadership meetings to ensure alignment on goals, performance expectations, and operational priorities.
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for Delivery team roles, including hiring, onboarding, and training. Monitor new hire progress, provide coaching, and conduct formal 90-day performance evaluations to confirm successful onboarding.
  • Analyze key performance indicators on a daily and weekly basis, including delivery execution, customer service levels, payroll as a percentage of sales, miles per delivery, and planned versus actual performance. Identify and implement improvements in routing, scheduling, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure full compliance with all DOT and FMCSR regulations, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Oversee driver safety, training, and performance monitoring. Ensure all required training is completed and properly documented in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage safety and compliance systems, including monitoring CSA scores, overseeing Samsara corrective actions, and maintaining the DOT Accident Register with timely follow-up.
  • Supervise and verify daily payroll and timekeeping processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Lead the Delivery Safety Committee by identifying risks, implementing preventative measures, and delivering ongoing safety training. Partner with Corporate Safety to strengthen safety culture and employee engagement.
  • Direct accident response efforts, coordinating with insurance carriers and Fleet Safety to ensure timely resolution, repairs, and return-to-service of vehicles.
  • Develop and execute retention strategies to reduce turnover, including regular employee engagement, performance touchpoints, and incentive programs to foster a positive work environment.
  • Prepare for and support internal, regulatory, and third-party audits by ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and process consistency.
  • Ensure supervisors conduct regular one-on-one meetings with drivers to gather feedback, address concerns, and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Create and deliver consistent communication plans (daily, weekly, monthly) to keep the Delivery team informed, engaged, and aligned with company objectives.
  • Partner with the General Manager to conduct quarterly business reviews, assess revenue performance, and develop workforce plans. Collaborate with the Staffing team to maintain appropriate headcount levels.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and engage large teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet or transportation management, including oversight of a large CDL vehicle fleet.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and transportation/operations systems (e.g., Samsara, First Advantage, WMS, ERP).
