Dental Assistant
Position Summary:Akicita Federal is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team at the Sisseton IHS Service Unit. The ideal candidate will support dental staff in providing high-quality oral healthcare services to the Native American community. This role is critical to ensuring efficient, patient-centered dental operations and supporting the overall mission of the Indian Health Service.
Key Responsibilities:-Prepare dental operatory with necessary instruments and materials for each patient visit.-Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including general, pediatric, and preventive dentistry.-Take and process digital dental radiographs (X-rays).-Maintain patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.-Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control protocols.-Record treatment information in patient records using Electronic Dental Records (EDR).-Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care guidance.-Manage dental supply inventory and notify staff of low stock or needed equipment.-Ensure clinical areas meet all cleanliness and safety standards.-Collaborate with the dental team and support administrative duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:-High School Diploma or GED
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential preferred-Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent work experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (must be current and valid)-Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA standards, including infection control practices-Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity to the Native American population-Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screening
$75,000 - $85,000 a year
