Director of Platform Engineering

This leadership role sits at the core of a large-scale healthcare technology environment, responsible for shaping and evolving the foundational compute platforms that power critical digital health services. You will lead engineering teams focused on designing, building, and operating highly scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure across multiple subsidiaries. The role combines strategic vision with deep technical execution, ensuring platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency at enterprise scale. You will play a key part in defining long-term platform strategy while enabling innovation across cloud, virtualization, and middleware ecosystems. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration and direct influence on technology decisions that impact millions of users. Accountabilities:
  • Define and execute the long-term compute platform strategy aligned with broader organizational and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team responsible for platform architecture, development, and operations.
  • Oversee design and implementation of scalable compute platforms, including virtualization, middleware, cloud infrastructure, databases, and storage systems.
  • Ensure platform reliability, high availability, low latency, and optimal performance through continuous monitoring and optimization.
  • Drive security, compliance, and data protection initiatives to ensure adherence to healthcare and regulatory standards.
  • Manage infrastructure costs while balancing scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and subsidiaries to ensure consistent platform standards and alignment.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement of platform capabilities.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform operations.
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with compute platform technologies including virtualization, middleware, cloud, storage, and database systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proven ability to design and scale distributed systems in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
