This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Project Director, Distribution & Automation Engineer in Spain.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead large-scale, cross-functional projects in distribution, automation, and facility operations. You will oversee the design, implementation, and execution of complex projects, from new facility construction to system and process optimization across multiple sites. Acting as a key liaison with internal teams and external partners, you will manage budgets, schedules, and resources while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence. The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on project management in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with significant influence on operational efficiency and innovation.
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of one to two complex projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with project charters, budgets, and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Distribution, HR, IT, Operations, Finance, and Real Estate, as well as external partners, to develop project plans and ensure seamless implementation.
- Manage capital equipment, contracting support, and supplier specifications, including contract negotiation, execution, and performance oversight.
- Direct internal and outsourced resources, overseeing material handling, systems, building design, and construction activities.
- Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and ensure completion including inspection, testing, training, and start-up.
- Lead project teams and manage associated staff, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and expense review.
- Travel up to 75% of the time to project sites as required.
- Bachelor’s or Engineering/Technical degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degrees a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in project management for capital projects, distribution, or automation.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse design, material handling systems, and operational processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing multi-discipline teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for diverse technical and business audiences.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Access, Word, and AutoCAD.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or consulting is beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
