About This Position

Emergency Response Specialist

Summary:
The Emergency Response Specialist supports the airline’s Emergency Response Program by assisting with preparedness, response, and recovery activities, related to aircraft accidents, significant operational disruptions, and other critical events. Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Response, this role focuses on planning, coordination, documentation, training support, and real time response assistance to ensure the organization meets regulatory requirements and can effectively manage emergencies impacting passengers, employees, and operations.

Minimum Requirements:
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Education Details:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Years of Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of experience in emergency response planning.


• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across departments and levels of leadership.
• Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills in both routine and high pressure situations.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, track details, and maintain situational awareness.
• Self motivated and able to perform effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and determine appropriate actions or escalation.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and professionalism during sensitive situations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel).
• Flexibility to support response and operational needs as required, including outside standard business hours.

Preferred Requirements:
• Experience in aviation, airline operations, safety, or a related operational environment.
• Experience coordinating across multiple departments or stakeholders during time sensitive or operationally impactful events.
• Knowledge of aviation regulatory or response requirements (e.g., FAA, NTSB, Family Assistance Act), or experience working in a regulated environment.
• Experience planning, coordinating, or facilitating emergency response exercises or preparedness activities.
• Experience supporting real world emergency response or operationally significant events.
• Experience supporting or coordinating an internal volunteer or responder program within an emergency response environment.
• Experience developing, updating, and facilitating training.
• Experience with technical writing and document maintenance, including manuals, checklists, and reports.
• Experience leveraging automation or advanced tools to streamline workflows or support operational processes.
• Experience coordinating with external partners such as airports, vendors, or public agencies.
• Training or certifications related to emergency management, aviation, incident command systems, family assistance, exercise design, crisis communication, or continuity planning. Additional training in facilitation, trauma informed response, project management, or workflow automation is also preferred.

Job Duties:
• Support the planning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the airline’s Emergency Response Program, including plans, procedures, and response resources.
• Assist with coordination of emergency response activities during operational disruptions or significant events, supporting information flow, situational awareness, and cross functional collaboration.
• Serve as an assigned response team member in emergency response activations as directed, including potential deployment to support on scene or off site response operations.
• Support family assistance activities as part of the airline’s emergency response, including coordination with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners during accidents or significant events.
• Coordinate and support emergency response drills, exercises, and preparedness activities, including tabletop and functional exercises.
• Assist with development, facilitation, and maintenance of emergency response training materials and sessions.
• Support post event and post exercise reviews by contributing to reports, lessons learned, and program improvement efforts.
• Develop, update, and maintain emergency response documentation, including manuals, checklists, guides, and related reference materials.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support response readiness and execution.
• Support use and maintenance of tools and systems used for emergency response coordination, communication, reporting, and workflow management.
• Assist with coordination with external partners, such as airports, vendors, or agencies, as needed for exercises or response activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of emergency response readiness, response, and recovery activities.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
