This role is designed for innovators eager to transform research into market-ready photonic solutions. You will be responsible for identifying promising technologies, validating prototypes, and advancing them toward commercial applications. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of deep tech, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will assess feasibility, integrate user and market feedback, and contribute to product development from MVPs to scalable systems. The role involves close coordination with product and engineering teams, fostering creativity, and driving technological roadmaps. Ideal candidates are technically curious, adaptable, and passionate about emerging technologies in photonics, sensors, and laser systems.
- Analyze and identify promising research results in photonics, laser technology, sensor systems, and hybrid integration
- Develop and implement technological solutions, software architectures, and tools suitable for prototype and product development
- Integrate user feedback and market insights into continuous technological advancement
- Assess technical feasibility and the potential for marketable products
- Design, prototype, and implement MVPs and scalable systems, ensuring technology readiness
- Conduct testing and validation to meet quality and performance standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including product and venture developers, to drive product implementation and roadmap planning
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience developing and implementing technological solutions, preferably in startups or innovation-focused environments
- Knowledge of hardware-related systems, embedded systems, and physical measurement principles
- Interest in optics, photonics, sensor technology, or related application areas (telecommunications, quantum technology, medical or industrial sensors)
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and managing complex projects
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to prioritize multiple parallel projects
- Proficiency in English (German skills are a plus) and excellent communication abilities
