What does the job pay to start?

$18-21 per hour, negotiable based on experience. Supervisors are eligible for bonus plans which are based on department performance.

What are the requirements and skills needed for this job?

Ideal candidates will have a combination of professional culinary experience, as well as experience leading a team. We will consider each candidate's unique backgrounds, but at least 2 years of professional cooking experience, and at least 1 year of experience leading a team will be preferred.

What is the schedule required for this job?

  • 5 - 8 hour shifts per week between the hours of 5am-3pm.
  • Weekend availability required
  • Full availability during November and December. This is our busiest time of the year as a business and we do not take extra time off during these months.
  • Overtime is not typically planned for but may occasionally be required.

What will the Savory Kitchen Supervisor do?

  • Learn to make and participate in the preparation of all menu items and components made each day. Menu items include grab’n’go packaged sandwiches, scratch made soups and stocks, salads, dressings, seasonal specials, donuts, and more!
  • Plan daily and weekly production lists, delegate tasks to team members( typically 4-5 staff members are on shift at a time), and problem solve as necessary to ensure on-time delivery
  • Train and supervise staff members in executing all products and recipes in accordance with SOP’s, time goals, and food safety guidelines, providing, timely, constructive, and regularly feedback to the team
  • Regularly tastes and evaluates the quality and flavor of our food while providing feedback and instruction to the team as needed.
  • Learn to support the manager in ordering and management of the inventory of ingredients
  • Regularly share feedback with managers on daily performance of the team and ways to improve
  • Communicate with manager and other leaders in the business to coordinate shared equipment, ordering, work space, and staff sharing as needed
  • In addition to our Orientation Training Passport, you will also complete a Supervisor Passport (specialized training documents designed to share in the effectiveness of your training and success in your position)
  • Model great service and direct communication
  • Assist in annual planning process and completion of annual goals
  • Assist in managing labor cost and food cost plans/goals

Success patterns:

  • Ability to perform all of the tasks of the department
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to self manage and work independently at times, with support from leadership
  • Ability to multi-task leading the work of others, while also performing tasks yourself, while providing great service
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Experience in cooking and food production
  • Experience leading a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during an 8 hour shift
  • Standing, lifting, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling for the duration of an 8 hour shift
  • Repetitive motion, with high levels of coordination, mobility, fine manipulation and dexterity.
