SUMMARY: The Domestic Violence & Certified Peer Support Specialist Supervisor oversees the Northwest Indian Treatment Center’s Recovery Support Team and coordinates domestic violence advocacy services for patients and alumni. This position ensures individuals impacted by domestic violence receive survivor advocacy, safety planning, crisis coordination, and access to supportive services while in treatment and after discharge.
The supervisor leads recovery support programming that helps patients transition from residential treatment into stable recovery by strengthening alumni outreach, community partnerships, and peer recovery networks in tribal communities. The position ensures services are delivered using trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practices that recognize the impacts of historical trauma and support long term healing.
This position manages multiple grants supporting recovery services and domestic violence, ensuring compliance with program requirements, data collection, reporting, and responsible use of grant funds while advancing a coordinated community response that strengthens recovery-oriented systems of care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Program Leadership and Supervision
· Supervises the Recovery Support/Peer Support Team and oversees implementation of peer support services/recovery support and domestic violence programming.
· Provides leadership, guidance, and performance oversight for domestic violence and peer support services.
· Ensuring services are delivered in accordance with NWITC policies, professional boundaries, trauma informed care principles, and culturally responsive practices.
· Coordinates team schedules, work assignments, trainings, and priorities to ensure consistent support services for patients and alumni.
Recovery Support/Peer Support Program Management
· Directs recovery support/peer support services that assist patients transitioning from residential treatment to stable recovery in their home communities.
· Oversees alumni follow-up services, outreach, and peer recovery coaching support for individuals after discharge.
· Ensures patients have access to community resources including housing, transportation, outpatient services, and culturally relevant recovery support/peer support services.
· Supports development of peer recovery networks within tribal communities and assists with training and support of peer recovery coaches.
· Coordinates and supervises recovery support/peer support services with clinical staff to ensure alignment with patient treatment plans and aftercare recommendations.
Domestic Violence Advocacy and Education
· Provides advocacy and support for patients and alumni who have experienced domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
· Conducts domestic violence education classes for residential patients focused on safety planning, empowerment, and healthy relationships.
· Coordinates crisis response and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence while in treatment or following discharge.
· Maintains partnerships with domestic violence agencies, shelters, advocacy organizations, and community programs to support patient safety.
Grant Management and Program Compliance
· Manages multiple grants that support services at NWITC.
· Ensures program implementation aligns with grant objectives, reporting requirements, and budget expectations.
· Maintains program databases and documentation required for grant monitoring and evaluation.
· Prepares and submits required grant reports, performance measures, and program updates in a timely manner.
Community Partnerships and Resource Development
· Develops and maintains partnerships with tribal programs, recovery organizations, domestic violence service providers, and community agencies.
· Expands referral networks that support recovery, safety, and long-term stability for patients and alumni.
· Represents NWITC in meetings, trainings, and collaborative initiatives related to recovery services and domestic violence support.
Crisis Coordination and Support Services
· Coordinates crisis intervention services for patients and alumni when safety concerns arise.
· Collaborates with clinical staff, community partners, and advocacy organizations to ensure timely and appropriate responses to crisis situations.
· Supports patients and alumni in accessing emergency services and safety resources when needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises Certified Peer Support Specialists, and other assigned personnel within the Recovery Support/Peer Support and Domestic Violence support programs. · Knowledge of substance use disorder recovery support services and peer support models.
· Understanding domestic violence advocacy, safety planning, and trauma informed care practices.
· Ability to supervise and support a multidisciplinary team providing recovery and advocacy services.
· Familiarity with tribal communities and culturally responsive service delivery.
· Experience coordinating community partnerships and referral networks.
· Ability to manage multiple grants including program implementation, documentation, and reporting.
· Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating with clinical and administrative teams.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data tracking systems, and electronic communication tools.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (such as behavioral health or domestic violence advocacy) OR an associate’s degree with four (2) years of related experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with six (4) years of related experience. Experience working with Native American or Tribal communities is preferred. Experience supervising staff, managing grants, or coordinating recovery support/peer support or domestic violence services is strongly preferred. Ability to obtain credentials with Washington State Department of Health for Certified Peer Support Specialist Supervisor.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, clients, community partners, and the public. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and program documentation clearly and accurately.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and budgets related to grant management and program expenditures.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic service environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be insurable under the Tribe’s insurance carrier. Must pass a criminal background check. Must complete TB test HIV/Aids training course. CPR and First Aid certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire. Certified Peer Support Specialist credentials preferred, or ability to obtain.
