What You’ll Do
As an Ultrasound Tech, you will report to the Director/Coordinator. Performs diagnostic medical sonography including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts, as well as vascular sonography. Occasionally scans in interventional radiology and surgery. Follows protocols, policies, and procedures as directed by the radiologist and/or supervising technologist. Ensures quality patient care is provided.
Ultrasound Tech Job Responsibilities:
- Performs all ultrasound examinations according to departmental protocols, policies, and procedures while ensuring quality patient care
- Obtains relevant clinical history and communicates with referring physicians and healthcare staff; provides phone reports when indicated
- Explains procedures and involves patients in their care
- Prepares and uploads images to PACS
- Completes worksheets and reporting templates accurately for the reading radiologist
- Applies appropriate charges for procedures
- Maintains ARDMS/ARRT(S) certification
- Orients new staff and students as needed
- Accurately tracks time, attendance, PTO, holidays, and call (including timely corrections in systems)
- Cleans, maintains, and reports issues with equipment
- Completes additional job-related duties and projects as assigned
What You Bring
As an Ultrasound Tech, it requires familiarity with ultrasound equipment and a strong understanding of human anatomy and cross-sectional imaging. You will possess basic clinical skills and knowledge of sterile techniques.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of ARDMS or ARRT (S). ARDMS or ARRT (S) is required to maintain position.
- Abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT certifications are preferred.
- Six months ultrasound experience is preferred.
