Assistant Bar Manager at Lake Almanor Country Club – Westwood, California

Join our team at the Sugar Pine Lounge at Lake Almanor Country Club (LACC) as the Assistant Bar Manager and take on a key leadership role in delivering an exceptional clubhouse experience. This position is ideal for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives in a hands-on leadership role—guiding service flow, supporting the team, and ensuring every member and guest feels welcomed and valued.

As Assistant Bar Manager, you will serve as Shift Lead, reporting directly to the Bar Manager. While this role does not carry disciplinary authority, you will provide operational leadership during service, assist with administrative responsibilities, and act as a trusted support to the Bar Manager to ensure smooth and consistent bar and event operation's.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as Shift Lead
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with consistency, professionalism, and attention to detail
• Uphold LACC’s ideals as they pertain to hospitality, guest experience, and service standards
• Assist with shift scheduling and daily task delegation
• Provide training and onboarding support for new bartenders and seasonal staff
• Perform weekly inventory counts and monitor bar supply levels
• Oversee accurate money handling, cash reconciliation, and completion of shift reports
• Complete all closing bar duties, including end-of-day reporting and “closing toast” procedures
• Establish, implement, and manage a regular bar cleaning schedule; follow up to ensure all tasks are completed to standard
• Attend clubhouse meetings and contribute to communication and operational planning
• Support kitchen and serving staff to ensure cohesive front-of-house service
• Ensure guest satisfaction to established standards; professionally manage guest concerns and resolve minor issues directly
• Escalate significant guest issues or complaints to the Bar Manager as necessary
• Follow all LACC policies and procedures, including responsible alcohol service and safety protocols
• Approve minor comps or service adjustments within established guidelines

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a bartender with demonstrated leadership ability
• Experience training or mentoring team members preferred
• Strong knowledge of drink recipes, mixing techniques, and bar operations
• Experience with inventory management and cash handling procedures
• Proficiency in Toast POS is a plus (not required)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and special events
• Valid California Alcohol Server Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Professional, team-oriented demeanor with a strong focus on guest satisfaction
