About This Position

Job Summary:

The Nurse Clinician is a member of the Resident care team. The position requires that the individual be clinically competent and knowledgeable of healthcare regulations. The Nurse Clinician shall be responsible for assessment, monitoring, and treatment of difficult wounds in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and the physician as evidenced by documentation in Resident’s Care Record and direct observation. The Nurse Clinician shall have the ability to appropriately read and comprehend data collected which reflects the Resident’s status and interprets the data needed to identify each Resident’s level of need and care. The nurse clinician performs weekly body audits on all residents. Initiates treatments on any new skin issues and updates treatment orders as needed. Prepares weekly skin reports and presents information in weekly quality assurance (QA) meeting with medical director and interdisciplinary team. Perform other job duties as needed.

Performance Expectations:

  • Ensures that all residents receive a head to toe body audit every week.
  • Displays clinical understanding of pathology and etiology of wound development.
  • Initiatives treatment to prevent and treat wounds.
    Understanding of wound care process and need to notify doctors of changes as needed.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of recognized non-online RN program required.

Work Experience:

One year experience in long-term care nursing preferred. One year experience in wound care preferred.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Licensed LPN able to practice within the State of MS

Additional Certification/Licensure - obtained based on the required timeframe below

  • Basic Life Support

Within 30 Days of Employment

Must have ability to assess, plan, coordinate Resident care, work independently, carry our orders accurately, demonstrate initiative, prioritize, have good communication skills an ability to perform as a team member, and function under stress.
