Financial Aid Advisor
Location: Haverhill, MA
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week (Flexible schedule required, Monday–Saturday)
Pay Rate: Starting at $22/hour (negotiable based on experience)
Are you detail-oriented, student-focused, and passionate about helping others access education? We’re looking for a Financial Aid Advisor to join our team and play a key role in guiding students through the financial aid process—from application to award and beyond.
This is more than an administrative role—you’ll be a trusted resource for students, helping them understand their options, navigate requirements, and stay on track toward their educational goals.
What You’ll DoAs a Financial Aid Advisor, you’ll manage the full lifecycle of financial aid support while delivering a positive and supportive student experience:
- Review and process financial aid applications for accuracy and completeness
- Meet with prospective and current students to explain financial aid options, eligibility, and tuition breakdowns
- Assist students with completing applications and determining financial need
- Collect and verify required documentation (tax forms, transcripts, diplomas, etc.)
- Manage ISIR data, make corrections, and maintain accurate records
- Certify Title IV loans and process updates or adjustments
- Prepare and distribute financial aid award letters
- Counsel students on borrower responsibilities during their first weeks of class
- Track student files, maintain logs, and prepare weekly status reports
- Collaborate with admissions and other departments to resolve incomplete applications or delays
- Stay current on financial aid regulations and ensure compliance
- Provide general administrative and phone support as needed
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in customer service or financial aid-related work
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and data
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software
Preferred:
- Training or coursework in financial aid or a related field
- Experience at a Title IV-approved institution
- Familiarity with student information systems or financial aid platforms
- You’re highly organized and can manage multiple tasks without missing details
- You communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse student populations
- You’re proactive, dependable, and committed to follow-through
- You thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- You’re adaptable and willing to support other departments or campuses when needed
