About This Position

Travel Construction Superintendent Headquarters: Dallas, TX Travel Area: Statewide Texas (big‑box retail renovations & new builds) Position Summary The Travel Construction Superintendent is responsible for leading field operations on big‑box retail construction projects across Texas, including renovations and ground‑up new builds. This role requires extensive travel, strong leadership, and the ability to manage fast‑paced, schedule‑driven projects while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, tech‑savvy, and experienced in building teams, resolving conflict, and driving process improvements. Key Responsibilities Lead all day‑to‑day field operations for assigned projects, including renovations and new construction of large retail facilities. Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal project teams to meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements. Enforce site safety programs, conduct daily safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Develop and maintain detailed short‑term and long‑term project schedules, proactively addressing risks and constraints. Manage documentation including RFIs, Change Orders, Submittals, Daily Reports, Meeting Minutes, and Closeout Packages. Utilize Procore as the primary project management platform to track progress, documentation, coordination, and communication. Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, owners, and internal leadership through Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams. Resolve field conflicts professionally and efficiently, maintaining strong working relationships with trades and stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement by creating, refining, and implementing new field processes that improve execution, communication, and consistency across projects. Monitor quality throughout construction, not just at punch‑out, ensuring work meets plans, specifications, and client standards. Support turnover, inspections, and closeout activities to ensure projects are completed on time and ready for occupancy. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, preferably on big‑box retail renovations and/or ground‑up builds. Proven experience leading field teams and subcontractors across multiple trades. Strong working knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, and scheduling. Hands‑on experience with Procore for project documentation and communication. Comfortable using construction technology, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams. Demonstrated experience managing RFIs, Change Orders, documentation logs, and project records. Strong conflict‑management and problem‑solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Texas for project assignments. Preferred Qualifications Experience with occupied renovations or phased construction in retail environments. Experience helping standardize or implement new field processes or best practices. Familiarity with big‑box store prototypes, aggressive schedules, and milestone‑driven projects.
