Position Summary
The intern performs duties within an assigned department, supporting an organizational unit while gaining knowledge of the business operations of a public transportation agency serving Los Angeles County.
Organizational Responsibilities - Perform analytical work, participate in departmental projects, and carry out special assignments in support of the client’s Program Management department.
- Gather and compile data and prepare simple statistical and narrative reports.
- Generate correspondence and presentations.
- Research and prepare reports.
- Assist in the preparation of graphs, programs, and posters.
- Coordinate with other client departments and programs.
- Deploy applicable business software applications.
- Meet tight time constraints and deadlines.
- Compile and analyze data.
- Understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Handle highly confidential information.
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related degree from an accredited program.
- Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, with an aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
- A valid driver's license or the ability to utilize alternative methods of transportation, as needed, to perform job-related duties.
The hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00.
A hired employee will be placed within this hourly range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual’s scope of relevant experience and geographic location.
Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
