About the Role:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides high-quality medical care under physician supervision to promote and maintain patient health. This role supports departmental goals and may include additional responsibilities as needed to ensure quality patient care and program success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides comprehensive patient care including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EKGs)
  • Performs clinical procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care
  • Documents care in EHR and maintains accurate patient records
  • Educates and counsels patients on treatment, wellness, and preventive care
  • Collaborates with physicians and healthcare team to ensure quality, team-based care
  • Ensures compliance with clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulations
  • Supports clinic operations, continuity of care, and overall team goals
  • May provide care across multiple clinic settings as needed
  • Coordinates and manages all aspects of patient care
  • Participates in rotating on-call schedule for patient support after hours
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Core Qualifications:
  • Must have one of the following:
  1. Physician Assistant must possess certification (PA-C) by NCCPA and valid Alabama State Physician Assistant License. If from another state, must possess or obtain an Alabama State Physician Assistant license within six (6) months from date of hire; or
  2. Nurse Practitioner must possess current national Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) certification (through ANCC or AANP) required with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree. If from another state, must possess or obtain Alabama State NP license within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Three (3) years of continuous experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (PA-C or FNP-C) in outpatient family medicine, primary care, or urgent care is required. This experience must be current or have been obtained within the past six (6) months.
  • Must have the skills, interest, and current or recent experience to evaluate and treat pediatric patients, in addition to adult patients.
  • Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association or obtain it within ninety (90) days of date of hire and prior to performing clinical duties.
  • Must possess a current Alabama-specific DEA Registration and Qualified Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate and Limited Purpose Scheduled II Permit or be eligible and willing to apply for Qualified Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate and Limited Purpose Scheduled II Permit with the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners (ALBME).
  • Must establish a Registration Agreement/Collaborative Practice Agreement with ALBME (for PA-Cs and FNP-Cs) and with the Alabama Board of Nursing (for FNP-Cs) within ninety (90) days of date of hire and prior to performing clinical duties.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
