A Day in the Life at Custom Alarm
The Technology Operations Administrator is responsible for ensuring the company’s technological environment is reliable, secure, and well-supported. Coordinate systems, vendors, and internal users to ensure technology effectively supports day-to-day business operations. Lead by example and support the Vision, Purpose, and Core Values of the company through all interactions.
Reports to: Vice President of Support Services
Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm (can fluctuate as a salary position)
Location: Rochester, Minnesota
Company Size: 70 employees
Pay: $68,000 - $75,000 per year (starting wage is determined based on a number of considerations including education, certifications, related experience, etc.)
The Main Responsibilities
Technology Operations & Reliability
· Ensure day-to-day reliability and availability of systems (computers, networks, phones).
· Coordinate maintenance, updates, and monitoring.
Vendor & Service Management
· Act as primary liaison with IT vendors and service providers.
· Coordinate support, troubleshooting, and upgrades; escalate key decisions.
Systems Administration & Coordination
· Coordinate hardware/software setup and replacements.
· Maintain documentation, inventory, backups, and security basics.
· Manage onboarding/offboarding (accounts, access, equipment).
Cybersecurity Awareness & Training
· Oversee security training, phishing simulations, and awareness efforts.
· Track completion, reinforce policies, and escalate risks.
AI Tools & Business Applications
· Support evaluation and use of AI and automation tools.
· Manage access, configuration, and responsible usage standards.
· Guide users and escalate technical or compliance concerns.
Business Alignment & Planning
· Align technology with business needs and priorities.
· Support budgeting, lifecycle planning, and standardization.
User Support & Enablement
· Provide Tier 1–2 support and escalate as needed.
· Create user documentation and assist with training.
Process & Continuous Improvement
· Document systems and recurring issues.
· Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reliability.

Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 2-year Associate’s Degree
· Three to five years’ experience in computer network maintenance.
· CompTIA A+ Technician
· Microsoft 365
Beneficial Certifications
· Network+
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
· Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Extensive use of a computer screen and keyboard is necessary. Simultaneous movement of hands, wrists and fingers is an important element. Occasional lifting and carrying may be necessary; weights of objects rarely exceed 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
A majority of the workday is spent in a comfortable office environment with modern office equipment. Occasional after hours work may be necessary.
Other Requirements
Regular and reliable attendance is required. A person in this position must have a valid driver’s license. Due to the security nature of our business, an offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug test.
