JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Associate Director has multiple responsibilities to ensure that the contract quality and compliance of the Weingart Center/Programs Department are met, and to assist with the implementation of comprehensive external communication programs to support program goals and to position the Center for future partnerships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

Oversee tracking public funding opportunities, maintenance of relationships with funding agencies and assuring that compliance requirements are met.
Maintain contract compliance standards and reports to meet County, City, State and Federal guidelines/requirements.
Assist the COO with the implementation of comprehensive external communication programs to support program goals and to position the Center for future partnerships.
Maintain public fund raising, planning and administrative functions.
Identify new and existing government funds.
Maintain, develop, and oversee research, writing and preparation of contracts and grants.
Maintain contract and program enhancement and development.
Manage and maintain several WCA residential and community programs as assigned.
Research and prepare written reports.
Assist and monitor community collaborations and partnerships with subcontractors, funders and external agencies.
Maintain calendar of submission deadlines to guide the scheduling of grants and contracts.
Produce various periodic reports, graphs and charts.
Attend internal and external meetings as assigned and directed by the COO.
Performs other duties as required by the COO.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Management experience preferably in a social service agency.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Computer proficient.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
Ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers, customers, and others by sharing ideas positively, listening to suggestions, keeping commitments, and addressing issues constructively.
Demonstrates respect for diversity and addresses individuals by name or title while fostering inclusive and practical business solutions.
Exhibits professional manner when interfacing with professional staff, WCA visitors, contractors, vendors and programs and services providers.
Flexibility in meeting deadlines and adjusting to changing priorities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

MSW or MA preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with social service program development, contract compliance and direct client services.
Experience in the delivery of social services to homeless and/or low-income individuals.
Demonstrated abilities in management of multiple projects and priorities essential.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Sitting and standing for long periods of time, walking, stooping, and bending.
Ability to move to various physical locations in the complex.
Ability to see, hear and talk clearly to receive instructions and to give instructions.
Complex reading skills, complex writing skills, judgment, and decision-making capability.
Ability to be self-directed in work and work well with others as part of a case-work team.
Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
Ability to work well under highly stressful conditions, to interact with needy participants, to set realistic goals, to establish healthy boundaries.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
High level concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time required.
Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts and to understand communications from others.
Ability to work independently, with others and around others, to have verbal contact with others, face-to-face contact with others, and to prioritize work and make decisions.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by CDC.
