This role offers the opportunity to lead a highly skilled engineering team responsible for building and scaling critical backend systems in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. You will manage a distributed team, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and drive delivery across multiple workstreams while remaining hands-on in coding and system design. The position emphasizes technical excellence, operational ownership, and team development, with a focus on backend Python services, microservice architecture, and AI-assisted development tools. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and external partners to ensure reliable, scalable, and innovative solutions. • Lead a distributed backend engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and growth opportunities
• Remain hands-on in coding, system design, and architecture decisions, actively participating in complex development challenges
• Own delivery outcomes for multiple workstreams, planning, tracking, and communicating progress to stakeholders
• Coordinate cross-team dependencies, proactively resolving conflicts and managing risk to keep initiatives on track
• Develop and maintain backend systems, microservices, and integrations, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance
• Implement and optimize workflows leveraging generative AI tools for coding, planning, and team productivity
• Collaborate with product, design, and adjacent engineering teams to define priorities, roadmap, and technical trade-offs

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years in engineering management
• Strong experience in backend development with Python, Go, or Java, and full-stack familiarity including React/NextJS for frontend
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, distributed systems, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms
• Hands-on experience with SQL/relational databases, API design (REST/gRPC), and modern system design patterns
• Proven track record of shipping complex projects on time and managing distributed teams across multiple time zones
• Familiarity with generative AI tools for coding and productivity, applying them to accelerate development and team workflows
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance technical and business priorities
