- May – September: 5:00 am – 1:30 pm* Monday – Friday (possible weekends)
- October – April: 6:00am – 2:30pm* Monday – Friday (possible weekends)
- *Days and hours may change due to seasonal needs.

About this Position:
The Greenskeeper III serves as a Golf Course Equipment Mechanic within Portland Parks and Recreation. This role is responsible for executing mechanical repairs, maintenance, and modifications on equipment utilized in golf course operations. Additionally, the Golf Course Equipment Mechanic oversees others in the proper utilization of equipment. This position may entail maintenance of golf course greens, grounds, and facilities. The Greenskeeper III directs, trains, and evaluates the work of others on equipment operation protocols to ensure adherence to grounds care standards.
As a Greenskeeper III, you will:
- Provide proper use and care of golf turf equipment operation.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain specialized golf course equipment.
- Rebuild engines, sharpen mowing reels, and bed knives.
- Provide daily maintenance and adjustment of equipment.
- Perform light welding.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Keep computerized records and purchase parts and supplies.
- Work effectively with industry representatives, salespeople, servicepeople, and fellow employees.
- Perform routine golf course maintenance.
- Apply a working knowledge of pesticide applications.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with crews, other employees, and the public.
- Maintain a current Oregon Pesticide License.

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
- Knowledge of golf course grounds maintenance and equipment operations.
- Experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing golf course equipment.
- Experience sharpening golf course reel mowers.
- Experience in effectively instructing others in the safe use of golf course equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and diverse communities and work constructively as a team.
Applicants must also possess:
- A valid state driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment.
- A Public Pesticide Applicator's License (must be obtained within 6 months of appointment).
