Optometrist (Per Diem) at Correctional Psychiatric Services PC – North Dartmouth, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

Correctional Medical Services (CPS) is seeking a per diem optometrist to provide optometry services to the patient population at 3 of our locations. Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, MA., Plymouth County Correctional Facility in Plymouth, MA and Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham. Providers are members of a multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive medical services to the patient population. Consider being part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to delivering the highest quality correctional health care. Additional hours as needed. Flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities:

• Provide eye examinations and visual acuity tests.
• Prescribe corrective lenses to preserve or restore vision based on specialized standards of practice.
• Make referrals for other specialized services when clinically appropriate.

Schedule - Per Diem

• Bristol County 8 hrs/month
• Norfolk County 8 hrs/month
• Plymouth County 16/months

Qualifications & Experience

• Licensed to practice as an optometrist in the state of MA.
• Maintain current CPR and ACLS certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing eye examinations.
• Requires fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination to operate diagnostic instruments and handle small lenses and tools.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff and use computer systems for documentation.
• Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds may be required.
