Job Summary:
Correctional Medical Services (CPS) is seeking a per diem optometrist to provide optometry services to the patient population at 3 of our locations. Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, MA., Plymouth County Correctional Facility in Plymouth, MA and Norfolk County House of Correction in Dedham. Providers are members of a multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive medical services to the patient population. Consider being part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to delivering the highest quality correctional health care. Additional hours as needed. Flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Provide eye examinations and visual acuity tests.
- Prescribe corrective lenses to preserve or restore vision based on specialized standards of practice.
- Make referrals for other specialized services when clinically appropriate.
Schedule - Per Diem
- Bristol County 8 hrs/month
- Norfolk County 8 hrs/month
- Plymouth County 16/months

Requirements:Qualifications & Experience
- Licensed to practice as an optometrist in the state of MA.
- Maintain current CPR and ACLS certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing eye examinations.
- Requires fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination to operate diagnostic instruments and handle small lenses and tools.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff and use computer systems for documentation.
- Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds may be required.
