Patient Care Tech-ED at J Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital – Southport, North Carolina

PRN (as needed)

Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting registered nurses, in the care of the patient. Prepares patients for treatments, diagnostic procedures and assists health care providers as needed. Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties.

Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

• Demonstrate teamwork, peer-to-peer accountability, independent problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and appropriate clinical prioritization
• Document and practice according to facility policy
• Elevate concerns to the charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, or director as appropriate, reporting problems through the chain of command.

Qualifications

Education

a. High school graduate or equivalent

b. Experience as a nurse aide or technician in an emergency department preferred

Certification/Licensure

a. Current/unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of North Carolina and /or South Carolina

preferred

b. Current BLS certification or within 3 months of hire.
