POSITION TITLE: Associate Director – Social Media

POSITION FUNCTION: The Big 12 Conference seeks qualified applicants to join its team as the Associate Director – Social Media. This position will report to the Senior Director – Content & serve as the primary manager & voice of all Big 12 Conference social media platforms - including, but not limited to X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads & YouTube. Interested individuals will have an expansive knowledge of these social media platforms, Google Docs & Adobe Software with a specific understanding of Adobe Photoshop. This position is housed within the Marketing arm of the Conference within the Content Team alongside the Assistant Director of Graphic Design & Creative Content & the Assistant Director of Creative Video & Social Content.
The Associate Director of Social Media will help drive, support, coordinate and maintain various marketing initiatives, revenue opportunities and branding efforts to achieve long and short-term goals for the Big 12. Each of these areas hold a strong social-media component & these details will be owned by this position. This position will play an integral role on our marketing team with a keen focus on dynamic storytelling, ideation, partnership initiatives & brand identity across the Big 12 Conference.

Potential candidates must be able to handle multiple projects with differing deadlines while being immersed in the day-to-day landscape of college athletics inclusive of Communications, Sales & Partnerships & Marketing initiatives. This position speaks to the always on world that is social media but has constant support from the team for managing all responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Maintain and grow social media accounts for the Big 12 on Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, Facebook and other social media platforms.
• Produce and distribute content (video, photo, graphic, etc.) across all social media channels.
• Develop and execute social media strategy and maintain social media content calendar.
• Create and implement social media plans for daily needs, championship events, special events and other campaigns.
• Collaborate with internal departments, partners, schools, host cities and organizing committees to develop and execute campaigns, share content, and promote events.
• Support member schools' social initiatives and work with schools to develop and cross promote content.
• Keep a pulse on new tools and products across all social media platforms. Researching new trends and stay up-to-date with social media content production and distribution.
• Monitor appropriate metrics, maintain and share reports, and provide insight and direction based on data.
• Create graphics, digital signage & print signage for the Big 12's website, social media channels, marketing & major events in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Graphic Design & Creative Content
• Ensure creative deadlines are met by working effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment while maintaining brand equity and proper execution of marketing materials
• Develop brand centric decks aimed to amplify internal and external storytelling including but not limited to partnership proposals, event overviews and recaps. •
• Assist with the ideation and execution of department specific strategy pillars that tie back to marketing goals and drive organizational business priorities
• Provide holistic support for all brand initiatives including the coordination of campaigns in support of the Big 12's ticket sales and promotional strategy for Championships and other tent pole events
• Participate in team meetings, creative brainstorming and research around internal processes, client trends or needs, deliverables, or general matters specific to brand growth and development
• Assist in the content capture needs for Events and Championships when needed as we continue to showcase and build the Big 12 Brand
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by Senior Director – Content
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Adobe Photoshop) Microsoft Office, DropBox & Google Docs.
• The ability to work under stringent deadlines and quickly adapt to change
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects at different stages of development
• Exceptional communication, prioritization and time management skills
• Intellectual curiosity with a strong pulse on culture and emerging trends
• Experience working in a fast-paced and hands-on environment while juggling multiple projects at once and maintaining organization of projects, including a willingness and ability to travel and work weekends
• Ability to work long, flexible hours including gamedays, evenings, weekends and holidays as required
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Master's degree preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment. Frequent sitting, standing, walking bending, listening, speaking, and use of office equipment. Some requirements for lifting, pushing, or pulling items less than 30 pounds. Ability to work long non-standard hours, including holidays, nights, weekends, game days or other event dates.
