This leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing a high-impact media strategy that elevates visibility across national, local, and trade outlets, with a strong focus on complex and highly specialized healthcare topics. You will play a key role in translating scientific and clinical innovation into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with external audiences. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, you will drive proactive storytelling, strengthen media relationships, and ensure consistent external messaging. The role operates in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where clarity, speed, and precision in communication are critical. You will also oversee external PR partners and contribute to executive visibility and thought leadership initiatives. This is a highly strategic yet execution-focused role with significant influence on public perception and brand reputation.
- Develop and execute a proactive, forward-looking media relations strategy aligned with organizational priorities, with emphasis on healthcare and oncology-related narratives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers across national, local, and trade media, while actively pitching stories and managing inbound inquiries.
- Oversee and optimize external PR agency performance, ensuring alignment with messaging, goals, and deliverables.
- Lead story development by partnering with internal teams to identify compelling narratives around innovation, clinical data, patient impact, and milestones.
- Draft, edit, and refine press materials including pitches, statements, briefing documents, and press releases.
- Coordinate third-party engagement with clinicians, partners, and advocates to support storytelling and media opportunities.
- Manage media readiness by maintaining up-to-date assets such as FAQs, fact sheets, backgrounders, and spokesperson materials.
- Support executive communications by preparing leadership for media engagements and identifying opportunities for visibility in key outlets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field, with 8–10 years of experience in media relations and corporate communications.
- Strong background in healthcare, biotech, or life sciences, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into accessible messaging.
- Proven track record of securing high-quality media coverage across national, local, and trade publications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience developing press materials and media narratives.
- Experience managing external PR agencies and driving measurable communications outcomes through partnerships.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with journalists and stakeholders.
- Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable operating independently with strong judgment, executive presence, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and presentation tools such as PowerPoint or Google Slides.
- Competitive salary range of $165,600 – $207,000 USD (remote US-based role).
