GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This position is responsible for supervising production employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the people and processes involved in manufacturing;
  • Ensures that production meets output and quality goals, while remaining within budget limitations;
  • Advises on new ways to use resources – whether human, material or capital – most efficiently;
  • Reviews which machines to use and when, how many workers are needed to achieve maximum output and what the production sequence will be, based on PLEX assignments, and adjusts as deemed necessary to meet shipping schedules;
  • Reviews production output for quality and accuracy;
  • Reviews PLEX production schedules and duty assignments, making strategic decisions as necessary;
  • Assists with the Cross-training of worker teams for maximum production flexibility;
  • Trains, coaches, evaluates, and reprimands workers, when necessary;
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety programs;
  • Assists with the analyzing and reporting/recording of production data, problem charting, and recommends new ways to save steps, time, and materials, in order to reduce costs;
  • Ensures that all SOP’s for Production Operations are being implemented and followed;
  • Serves as an ambassador for FloraCraft, promoting the company at every opportunity;
  • Becomes attuned to employees' moods and emotional needs, manages the tension between continuity and change;
  • Provides daily feedback on shift production and logistical issues to ensure continuity of communications and information between shifts;
  • Is proficient in Plex to be able to assist all shift areas with operational plex issues;
  • Works closely with Security and Line Leaders during all shift emergencies to ensure procedures for reporting emergencies are followed and personnel safety maintained;
  • Assists Production and Logistics, as necessary, to keep Operations moving; and
  • Performs any other job responsibility as assigned.
  • Ensures safety standards are consistently followed; and
  • Performs other job responsibilities as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

SKILL AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with upper management, direct reports and other co-workers.

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • ERP Software Experience (PLEX preferred).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or 3-5 years’ experience in a related field.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

  • This position works Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm, unless otherwise agreed upon. Work may occasionally require weekend and/or evening work. While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles and occasionally moving mechanical parts and vibration. Working conditions are consistent with a typical manufacturing or warehousing environment and are usually moderate to loud in noise level, when on the production floor; quiet to moderate when working in the office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand for most of the workday and to perform lifting, bending and twisting. The employee is regularly required to handle and lift up to 20 lbs. and may occasionally or frequently be required to lift up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit.
