About This Position

Job Title: Health Physicist/ Radiation Safety Officer

Location: Western US Region; Eastern US Region

Position Type: Full- Time

Job Summary: The Health Physicist/Radiation Safety Officer (HP/RSO) will oversee and ensure the safe use of radiation and radioactive materials for at least 1 local manufacturing site.

Additional responsibilities will be across multiple sites within the assigned region. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, minimizing radiation risks to personnel, and promoting a safety culture within the organization.

Reporting to: Corporate RSO

The Regional RSO will work closely with both local and corporate radiation safety staff to maintain and improve radiation safety programs at assigned facilities. Regional RSO will also be involved in corporate-level projects related to the improvement of the radiation safety program company-wide.

Key Responsibilities:

Radiation Safety Program Management: Implement and manage a comprehensive radiation safety program across the assigned region, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., NRC, Agreement State, EPA).

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all facilities under the region’s jurisdiction comply with regulatory requirements for the safe use of radiation and radioactive materials. Stay up to date on changes to regulations and advise facility management and local RSOs on the impact of any new laws, guidelines, and corporate policies.

Training & Education:

Develop and assist with the delivery of radiation safety training programs to staff, ensuring all employees understand proper radiation safety protocols.

Provide ongoing education and awareness.

Radiation Monitoring & Risk Assessment: Perform routine inspections and assessments of facilities. Oversee the region’s state and/or federal radiation safety audits, including assigning CAPAs, submitting responses for corporate RSO review and submission, and monitoring ongoing compliance for the region.

Incident Response:

Lead investigations and provide guidance in the event of any radiation safety incidents or emergencies. Provide recommendations for corrective actions and preventive measures to avoid future incidents.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of radiation safety inspections, audits, training, and incidents. Prepare and submit reports as required by regulatory authorities.

Collaboration: Work with corporate RSO, corporate pharmacy personnel, and manufacturing personnel on licensing strategy and actions throughout the PharmaLogic system.

Equipment & Safety Systems Oversight: Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation safety equipment, including personal protective devices, monitoring equipment, and emergency systems.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in health physics, radiological health, or other science with 7 years of radiation safety experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in radiation safety, including experience in a regional or multi-site

role.

Certified Health Physicist

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding radiation safety.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Experience in developing and delivering training and educational programs.

Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) within the assigned region.

AU/RSO named on a NRC or State RAM license

Skills and Competencies:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Proficient in the use of radiation detection and monitoring equipment.

Ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions regarding radiation

safety.

Effective communication skills, including writing clear, concise reports.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working Conditions:

Travel will be required within the region to visit various facilities.

Compensation:

Based on experience, starting at $150,000.

Performance-based bonuses available.

Hybrid - 1-3 days per week in Denver on average
