About This Position

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position. The Postdoctoral Researcher in the Camacho Hernandez Lab is expected to functioning independently and will design and develop highly specialized medicinal chemistry/organic chemical reactions, full characterization and purification of small molecules that requires experience in at least NMR, HRMS, HPLC; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers. Successful candidate may have basic knowledge of in in-vitro pharmacology, ideally but not require.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Design and oversee medicinal/organic chemistry synthetic procedure, purification and characterization of small molecules.
• Design and implement chemical procedures; design safety procedures; adapt new procedures, methods or instrumentation relative to research procedures.
• Collect, prepare, and analyze research data; keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data; maintain computer database of research data; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
• Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training of fellows, residents, students and volunteer workers as needed.
• Search and be up to date with scientific literature related to the assign project.
• Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory when needed.

SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
