Position OverviewPosition: Outside Sales Engineer
Location: Modesto / Stockton – Central Valley

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking a motivated Outside Sales Engineer to support and grow the Modesto, Stockton, and greater Central Valley territory. This role focuses on sales and marketing of assigned product specialties while working closely with the Inside Sales Engineering Team, manufacturing partners, and directly with end users.

Key objectives include:

Achieving sales goals through increased revenue and gross marginDeveloping and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective customersExecuting territory and account strategic planningDeveloping opportunities and reporting on key sales activitiesRole & ResponsibilitiesThe Outside Sales Engineer will support customers throughout the Modesto / Stockton and Central Valley region, engaging with industrial, commercial, and municipal end users, and system integrators.

Key responsibilities include:

Learning and maintaining working knowledge of all products and solutions offered by Rust Automation & ControlsProspecting and promoting products, services, and solutions within assigned commercial, industrial, and municipal accountsGrowing territory sales and gross margin through regular in-person customer visits, effective use of video conferencing, and proactive communication via email, text, and phoneRe-engaging dormant or inactive customers through targeted outreach and personal interactionCollaborating with manufacturing partners through calls and emails, participation in webinars and seminars, and on-site visitsPartnering with the Sales Support Professional team to provide timely and accurate customer informationPerforming site walkdowns in industrial and commercial environmentsMaintaining a robust CRM database including accounts, contacts, opportunities, and projectsClearly articulating customer solutions and collaborating with internal teams to execute effectivelyQualifications & ProfileTechnical degree or 2–3 years of industrial sales experience (or related field)Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travelSelf-motivated with the ability to set aggressive goals and exceed themStrong desire to learn, grow, and be coachableResilient, adaptable, and solution-oriented with a positive, can-do attitudeExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindsetAbility to manage customer expectations and identify new sales opportunitiesTimely, professional communication with customers, managers, and manufacturing partnersStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently while leveraging internal resourcesProficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce)Benefits & PerksCompensation based on education and experienceStability and security of a family-owned organizationExtensive training and professional development opportunitiesComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverageCompetitive paid time offLife insurance401(k) with company matchCompany VehicleIs This You?Do you have a pioneering spirit and enjoy working for a growing company with a strong culture?Do you thrive in a motivated, team-oriented environment focused on customer solutions?Do you enjoy solving problems and taking on challenges?Do you strive to exemplify excellence in everything you do?If you answered YES, Rust Automation & Controls would love to welcome you to our family.


The pay range for this role is:
100,000 - 120,000 USD per year(Remote (Modesto, California, US))
