Position SummaryThe Peer Support Specialist – Crisis provides immediate support and guidance to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health or substance use crises. Using lived experience in recovery, this role offers emotional support, helps de-escalate crises, connects individuals to services, and promotes engagement in recovery and wellness.
Services are provided in homes, schools, and community settings, working with adults, youth, and families to build coping skills, resilience, and natural supports.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required
Personal lived experience in mental health recovery, substance use recovery, or youth/family recovery
For SUD peer support: minimum of two (2) years of sobriety required
Peer certification in at least one specialty area (Substance Use Recovery, Mental Health, or Youth & Family), or ability to obtain within required timeframe
Knowledge of recovery resources and behavioral health systems
Ability to work traditional and non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, on-call)
Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
