About This Position
Certified Surgical First Assistant
Work location: Texas Health Arlington Hospital 800 West Randol Mill Arlington TX 76012 and Texas Health Fort Wort 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue Fort Worth, TX 76104
Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday - Friday, (Daytime hours starting around 7am)
Clinic Highlights:
Education
Assists the surgeon during surgical procedures, i.e. passes sterile supplies and equipment, holds retractor devices, anticipates and responds to the surgical team needs, ties off vessels and tissues, repairs incisions and lacerations, cuts and cauterizes tissues, stabilizes drains, applies wound dressings, etc as needed and as directed. Performs complex surgical techniques as needed and as directed by physician and in accordance with Texas scope of practice for surgical first assistants 40%
Assists in the preparation of the operating room according to procedure schedules, and arranges sterile setups of instrument table supplies and equipment required. Coordinates with surgeons on specialty equipment and supply needs prior to procedure.

Monitors patient? �� s vital signs, including heart rate, respiration and pulse, alerting the physician if there are complications which need to be addressed. 15%
Evaluate the patient? �� s condition following the procedure to determine appropriate time for transport to the recovery room. 15%
Assists the physician with rounds for all inpatients, performing dressing changes and evaluation and removal of sutures and staples. 10%
Participates in special projects and/or performs other duties as assigned. 5%
