Perioperative Aide (TRH) at Beacon Health System – Three Rivers, Michigan
About This Position
Reports to the Manager. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Perioperative Aide provides services that support the clinic operations of the operating room. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning all restricted areas of the perioperative Department, as recommended by AORN, assisting with room turnovers, transporting patients, running errands, restocking inventory, assisting in reprocessing, and assisting in setting up rooms for cases. Follows all standards of safety and infection control in compliance with Three Rivers Health's standards, policies and procedures, State and Federal Regulatory Agencies, codes and applicable law. Responsible for promoting high quality work ethics and teamwork through-out the workplace. Performs within the prescribed limits of Three River's Health's Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the Compliance hotline. Required to be a member of the Hospital Decontamination Team.

Job Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning and supplying of all areas of responsibility, check out duties as assigned.
- Follows correct procedures for transport, disposal and/or storage of all medical and non-medical waste and linen.
- Completes projects, special requests, emergency spill clean-ups as assigned or needed.
- Adheres to established safety policies and procedures. Reports concerns to proper authorities. Understands safety and security codes and departmental responsibilities.
- Completes and submits all required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner. Attends all mandatory in services and departmental meetings.
- Consistently maintains safe and organized work areas.
- Properly maintains and stores all housekeeping chemicals and equipment. Reports any concerns to proper authorities.
- Utilizes time in a productive manner.
- Exhibits high quality work ethics. Promotes teamwork throughout housekeeping department and all departments served.
- Completes quarterly assignments to include window, wall, baseboard and furniture cleaning.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be a minimum of 17 years of age. Previous patient care experience is preferred and must obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) within 3 months of hire and maintain certification.
