About This Position

Job Title: Teacher - Early Childhood and Moderate Disabilities/Inclusion, Gr K2 (SEI Endorsement Required)

Supervisor: Principal/Designee

Start Date: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027

Position Type: Full-Time, 11 Months

Hours: School Hours. Supervisor will review specific arrival and departure times.

Compensation: Codman Academy Charter Public School follows a compensation scale based on years of direct experience. 1 year experience starts at $60,000, with 16 years direct experience starting at $110,444 annually.

Position Overview

Codman Academy Charter Public School seeks a K2 Early Childhood and Moderate Disabilities/Inclusion Teacher to provide an engaging, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive educational experience for all students. This role incorporates the EL Education curriculum for literacy and Illustrative Mathematics (IM) curriculum for numeracy, emphasizing inquiry-based, hands-on, and play-centered learning. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with disabilities, ensuring all children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. An SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement is required.

Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Instruction
  • Implement the EL Education curriculum to develop students' early literacy skills through interactive read-alouds, structured discussions, and phonemic awareness activities.

  • Utilize the Illustrative Mathematics (IM) curriculum to foster problem-solving, number sense, and mathematical reasoning through hands-on exploration.

  • Use a student-centered, play-based approach to promote cognitive, language, motor, and social development.

  • Differentiate instruction using universal design for learning (UDL) strategies and scaffolded supports to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to build students’ self-regulation, collaboration, and independence.

Student Engagement & Inclusion
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a growth mindset.

  • Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide accommodations and modifications to support students with moderate disabilities.

  • Support English Language Learners (ELLs) with language-rich instruction and interactive learning strategies to promote vocabulary and oral language development.

  • Utilize restorative practices and positive behavior interventions to maintain a safe and welcoming learning space.

Collaboration & School Engagement
  • Work closely with special education teachers, EL specialists, and interventionists to provide comprehensive student support.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with families through conferences, progress updates, and engagement opportunities.

  • Participate in professional development, coaching cycles, and EL Education’s expeditionary learning model to enhance instructional practices.

  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives and actively collaborate with colleagues to promote a rigorous and joyful learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Massachusetts teaching certification in Early Childhood Education (PreK-2) and Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8).

  • SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required.

  • Experience teaching in an inclusive early childhood setting.

  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, play-based learning, and literacy and math instruction.

  • Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

Preferred:
  • Experience implementing the EL Education and Illustrative Mathematics (IM) curriculum.

  • Background in supporting ELLs and students with disabilities in an inclusion setting.

  • Familiarity with expeditionary learning, project-based learning, and hands-on instructional methods.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with families and colleagues.
