Requirements:

The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography, OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, visual fields. This position may also be responsible for assisting Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions as necessary including patient work ups and administering eye medications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for opening and closing diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
  • Performing test based on a physician's orders.
  • Perform visual field testing: Humphrey
  • Perform OCT testing: Heidelberg and Cirrus
  • Fundus Photography
  • External Photography
  • Corneal Topography: Atlas and Pentacam
  • Timely, accurately and efficient transferring test results into electronic medical records.
  • Update patient records using high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related system.
  • Comply with all HIPPA regulations in all interactions with patient information
  • Other related duties as assigned

Position/Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

Candidates must be available to work Monday through Saturday. Monday through Friday hours may range from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours are generally 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shifts will be assigned by manager at least two weeks in advance.

Travel:

Travel between clinic locations is required and scheduled at the discretion of the clinical managers or designee.

Qualifications:

  • Minimal of one year working in an Optometry and/or Ophthalmology company

Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to perform manifest refraction is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively multitask
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
