JOB HIGHLIGHTS
The Individual Giving Officer (IGO) is a frontline fundraiser responsible for managing and deepening relationships with a portfolio of up to 150 donors and prospects who currently give $5,000+ annually or have the capacity to give $10,000+. The IGO will be charged with raising approximately $1,000,000 annually through strategic, personalized donor engagement that strengthens relationships and builds toward increased annual and multi-year support.
The IGO works collaboratively with the Strategic Giving team, regional fundraising staff, Marketing & Communications, and the Donor Relations, ensuring a strong pipeline of donors ready for elevated engagement.

Portfolio & Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of ~150 major-gift donors and prospects at the $5,000+ level or with capacity for $10,000+ giving.
- Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies tied to an annual fundraising goal of $1 million.
- Maintain consistent interaction through personal visits, calls, and tailored communications.
- Partner with the Donor Relations Associate to identify mid-level donors ready for deeper engagement and ensure seamless movement between portfolios.
Cultivation, Solicitation & Stewardship
- Lead all phases of the donor cycle, with emphasis on increasing both annual and long-term philanthropic investment.
- Prepare and deliver compelling funding requests, proposals, and personalized impact reports.
- Ensure donor intent is honored and accurately communicated internally.
Strategic Growth & Pipeline Development
- Execute a disciplined moves management strategy to advance donors toward increased annual support, multi-year commitments, and higher-level giving opportunities.
- Identify donors positioned for expanded support and long-term partnership.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with regional and project staff to align donor interests with TCF’s conservation priorities.
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to develop effective, donor-centered messaging and stewardship materials.
- Coordinate with Strategic Giving colleagues on reporting, donor recognition, and internal alignment.
- Partner with the Planned Giving Director to identify prospects for legacy gifts.
Data & Systems
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of donor interactions and strategies in the CRM system.
- Track progress toward goals and provide regular updates on portfolio performance.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO HAVE
· Minimum of 5 years of progressive, successful fundraising/development experience with individual donors.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with donors.
· Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
· Organized, detail-oriented, possessing a builder’s mentality and strong work ethic.
· Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including translating complicated project information into compelling and captivating stories.
· Experience with prospect research and data analysis.
· Ability to manage a high volume of donor interactions.
· Proficiency in donor relationship management (CRM) systems.
· Strong understanding of fundraising principles and best practices.
· A commitment to conservation and the goals of The Conservation Fund
WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE
· Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
· Salesforce experience a bonus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Work is performed remotely from a home office.
· The position does require sporadically working long hours and/or weekends.
· Overnight travel is required.
· Estimated travel – 15% per month.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000, and the position is eligible for opportunities to earn performance-based bonus compensation. Please note: Salary range provided is an estimate and will be evaluated on an individual basis, taking into consideration the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education. The final salary offer will be determined accordingly.
