About This Position

Description:

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The DCI will be responsible for developing and implementing the academic program for all students at UD Team. This is a year-round position that reports directly to the school Leader.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Urban Dove Team Charter School (UD Team) is a distinctive network of sports-based high schools catering to over-aged, under-credited youth. We fuse a robust academic curriculum with sports-based youth development, ensuring our graduates receive a diploma, a steppingstone for higher education, and essential job skills.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve on the school’s leadership team.
  • Supervise curriculum and instructional staff, including classroom teachers and coordinators.
  • Oversee UD competency-based curriculum development and execution.
  • Lead professional development for educators of overage-under credited students.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and address staff performance.
  • Observe teachers, ensuring compliance and providing feedback.
  • Support positive classroom behavior management using TLCs.
  • Ensure classrooms are engaging and student friendly.
  • Administer and monitor periodic assessments.
  • Analyze academic data and track progress.
  • Collaborate with Special Education and MLL Coordinator for student services.
  • Develop a state-aligned, task-based curriculum with the Instructional Coach.
  • Coordinate with the Data Manager for student graduation paths and schedules.
  • Develop and manage extended academic programs for tutoring and credit recovery.
  • Ensure staff adherence to school-wide policies.
  • Monitor teacher feedback and oversee progress report distribution.
  • Counsel students and mentor a select group.
  • Foster parent engagement, address concerns, and ensure regular communication.
  • Coordinate staff coverages and oversee extra session activities.
  • Ensure compliance with state academic requirements.
  • Maintain department assets and manage budget.
  • Monitor school transitions and daily routines.
Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree; SBL preferred.
  • Transfer School Experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to “multi-task” and deliver high quality work.
  • Commitment to the UD Team mission and core values of Teamwork, Leadership, and Communication
  • Commitment to the use of restorative practices and a strength-based, youth development approach to student issues
  • Ability to function well as part of a team and work independently.
  • Must be team-oriented, with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a passion for serving at-risk youth, and a sense of humor.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000
